Music Friday

Downtown Lancaster consistently offers unique and exciting experiences for those that love the arts, providing events like Music Friday which showcase one larger free concert, along with other acts at restaurants, businesses, and even on the street throughout the city. Every third Friday Lancaster becomes a city of music, and King’s Cottage Bed & Breakfast is the ideal location to experience that day and the weekend that follows.

This Music Friday is led by Shrimpboat, a soul, funk, and blues band formed in Columbia, PA in 2012. Shrimpboat has quickly made a name for themselves, attracting the attention of engineer Dave Natale, a man who previously worked with The Rolling Stones and Tina Turner. Shrimpboat will be playing at Binns Park on North Queen Street, but they are only one of many bands scheduled to perform on Friday.

Throughout downtown Lancaster music will be coming from many of the local businesses, and you’ll even get a chance to view a wide range of street performers. The Belvedere Inn, also on North Queen Street, has the Dave Wilson Trio performing from 7 PM to 10 PM. The Chameleon Club, a constant source of musical entertainment, has brought in Scott Stapp, former lead singer of Creed, to perform at 7 PM for Music Friday. The street acts are just as impressive, with One Man Band doing a street performance at 229 North Queen Street.

Music Friday isn’t only about the great talent of Lancaster County, but also a perfect ladies night out. BUiLDiNG CHARACTER, a marketplace on North Queen Street that has over 40 local shops under one roof, host Ladies Night Out every Music Friday. This Ladies Night Out features free desert samples and drinks, free hand-scrubs by Garden Party, and a free 5-minute chair massage by Jim Baldwin. A great night out is complimented by the potential to shop, with all 40 vendors open and selling clothing, handcrafted jewelry, handmade accessories, gifts, cards and art.

There is never a dull moment in Lancaster, with each weekend offering new and exciting experiences. To experience Lancaster at its very best, then we recommend staying with the very best in luxury and comfort at King’s Cottage Bed & Breakfast. We look forward to greeting you soon!

Theatre Fun in the Summer

Here at King’s Cottage Bed & Breakfast, we pride ourselves on ensuring a luxurious and entertaining stay for our guests. We handle the luxury with our elegant and romantic rooms, all of which feature fireplaces and three which also feature whirlpool tubs, but we also update our guests on all of the great events that Lancaster has to offer for premium entertainment.

One important aspect of Lancaster County is the theatre scene. Between the Fulton Theatre, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Rainbow Dinner Theatre, and the American Music Theatre, there is always a great show that is only a short drive from King’s Cottage.

June 3 begins the Fulton’s run of “Les Misérables.” Showing from June 3 to July 13, Les Misérables follows Jean Valjean, a French peasant in 19th-century France, and his quest for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread for his starving sister’s child.

The Fulton Theatre previously staged “Les Misérables” in 2009, which they describe as “an unqualified hit with audiences, and for good reason.” This staging of “Les Misérables” will close out their 2013/2014 season, so expect tickets to sell fast as the Fulton closes this season with an immensely popular musical. As always, King’s Cottage offers special pricing on tickets for the Fulton Theatre when you stay with us. We’ll save you the hassle of trying to purchase tickets so you can enjoy a stress-free stay.

Of course, if “Les Misérables” is a bit too dramatic for your trip to Lancaster County, there are always hilarious plays at the Rainbow Dinner Theatre. “Always A Bridesmaid” will be showing through August 9 and follows four young women who vow that they will all attend each others’ weddings. Once middle-aged, they realize that they keep repeating their roles over and over again.

The Rainbow Dinner Theatre is also known for great food as well as plays. Their current menu features Beef Tenderloin Eye Round, Glazed Teriyaki Sesame Tilapia, Cheese Tortellini with Cherry Tomatoes in a Pesto Sauce, plus many other options that are sure to complete a great night out at the theatre.

With a new series of shows opening in Lancaster County, now is the perfect time to book a stay with King’s Cottage and allow us to provide you with discounted tickets and a luxurious stay that you won’t soon forget. We look forward to seeing you soon!
